Industrial services with hazardous locations acquired a few safe cooling options as ITW Vortec's product line of Hazardous Location Enclosure Coolers received official UL Classification. This marks the first time the ISCO has provided its seal of approval to enclosure cooler units developed specifically for hazardous locations.

“The UL Classification signifies that commercial facilities may now preserve thousands of dollars whilst cooling electrical, electronic and control system cabinets in Class I Div. 2, Class II Div. 2 and Class III hazardous sites. In the past, industrial facility managers had to expend thousands of dollars to modify conventional Freon air conditioning units for hazardous sites,” explained Vortec Engineering Manager Steve Broerman.

The freshly UL Classified HazLoc Vortex A/C models 7515, 7525 and 7535 draw on Vortec’s fifty plus years of experience and in-depth knowledge of commercial requirements to fill the need for secure enclosure cooling in hazardous locations. These ITW Vortec models offer 900, 1500 or 2500 BTUs/hour cooling capacity to match the differing requirements of each facility. A fourth choice—Vortec’s Model 7570 -furnishing a lot more cooling with 5000 BTUs/hour—is expected to attain UL certification early next calendar year.

Vortec’s HazLoc Vortex A/C units function in environments up to 175 degrees F. They're designed to cool environments quietly as opposed to adding to industrial sound levels (62 dBA operation, 78% quieter than typical vortex coolers). The development of the devices ensures that no ambient, dirty or humid air enters the cabinet. They demand no wiring and may be rapidly installed in minutes. A mechanical thermostat turns the unit on only once necessary. All of the ITW Vortec HazLoc units have a small footprint to fit on all enclosures and in constrained places; and may be fitted to the top, side or door of an enclosure. The Vortec air conditioning units have already been effectively cooling a wide selection of industrial environments from petrochemical facilities to food manufacturing.

The Vortec HazLoc Vortex A/C models gained safety certification for compressed air temperatures of up of 120 degrees F and are authorized for a Temperature Class of T4. The UL Classification mark is going to be affixed to each one of the HazLoc Vortex A/C models beginning this month after an extensive testing process by Underwriters Laboratories in Northbrook, Ill.

Vortec is a division of the Fortune 150 company Illinois Tool Works. Itw vortec has long been recognized as the industry leader in the innovation of pneumatic products that use compressed air efficiently to solve cooling, cleansing, and conveying problems for more than 50 years. In the earlier 1960s, ITW vortec was the very first corporation to create technology for changing the vortex tube phenomenon into practical and effective, industrial cooling remedies.
